Coffee jelly is a very popular sweet in UK and Japan. It is a coffee flavored jelly dessert made with sugar and gelatin. It is used in a wide variety of dishes or eaten as a stand-alone dessert. What separates coffee jelly from the typical western gelatin substances, is that it is made from algae. It is often added to other desserts and dishes as a type of enhancer – like milkshakes, teas, and ice cream floats.
