You have probably seen cake pops at one of your favorite confectionaries. They are lovely little wonders that are basically the combination of a lollipop and cake; two of the most iconic sweets on their own. Together, they really do make for the most idyllic dessert. Thanks to this recipe you can now learn to make cake pops for yourselves. This is wonderful because you can now make your cake pops taste however you want: chocolate cake pops, vanilla cake pops, coffee cake pops, etc.

Ingredients

12 oz colored candy-coating melts - divided

24 plain doughnut holes

24 lollipop sticks

1 tbsp multicolored candy sprinkles as desired

How To Make Cake Pops

  • Place 1/4 cup of candy melts into a small bowl,
    • Melt in the microwave at 40 percent power for 30 seconds.
    • Stir the candy coating, and continue to heat for 30 second-intervals.
    • Repeat until the coating is just warm and completely melted.
  • Poke a hole halfway through a doughnut hole using a lollipop stick.
  • Dip the end of the stick into the melted coating and reinsert into the hole.
    • Note: This holds the doughnut hole firmly on the stick.
  • Stick the doughnut pop upright into a block of plastic foam.
  • Let firm inside the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  • Melt the remaining candy-coating dots in a bowl on 40 percent power for 1 minute once the sticks are firmly attached to the pops
  • Melt and stir for 30-second intervals until the coating is warm and smoothly melted.
  • Dip the doughnut hole into the coating while covering it completely.
  • Hold the dipped pop over a bowl.
    • Sprinkle with colored candy sprinkles.
  • Return the decorated pops to the plastic foam block and let set.
