Ingredients

cup of butter: 1/3

cup of white sugar: 3/4

Eggs: 2

teaspoon of vanilla extract: 1

teaspoon of almond extract: 1

teaspoons of orange zest: 2

cups of all-purpose flour: 2 1/4

teaspoons of baking powder: 1 1/2

teaspoons of ground nutmeg: 1/8

teaspoon of salt for taste: 1 1/4

cup of semi sweet chocolate chips: 1

cup of roasted almond pieces: 1/2

How To Make Biscotti Toscani

  1. Preheat your oven to around 325 degrees Fahrenheit
  2. Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl until it has become light and fluffy.
  3. Add in eggs, almond extract, zest and vanilla to the bowl and beat the mixture.
  4. Combine flour, nutmeg, baking powder and salt to the mixture.
  5. Stir the concoction until it is fully blended.
  6. Divide the dough into two pieces.
  7. Form long flat loaves around 12 inches long.
  8. Place the loaves at a distance of 2 inches on a baking sheet.
  9. Bake the dough in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  10. Cut the final product diagonally into slices half an inch thick. Lay the slices on the baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Turn over the slices once.
  11. Spread chocolate onto one side of all cookies. Keep at room temperature for a while before devouring.

Trivia

The word ‘biscotti’ comes from the combination of bis and cotti. These Italian words mean twice-cooked or twice-baked. ‘Biscotti’ is also considered as the generic term for referring towards a cookie in Italian.
