You have probably heard of the saying ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away.’ Not just apples, every fruit has a unique health benefit. The best thing about fruits is how you can consume it raw, cook a few of them or consume them in the form of Juice.

Banana sheera or simply sheera is one of the famous Indian desserts made with semolina or rava and ripe bananas. It is a lot similar to kesari or sooji halwa but tastes definitely better! Cook a batch of this banana sheera, store in a casserole and surprise your loved ones when it is time to serve!

Ingredients

1/2 cup rava or semolina

1 1/4 cup water

3/4 cup chopped banana

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 tsp cardamom powder

3 tbsp ghee

10 cashew nuts

10 raisins

How To Make Banana Sheera Recipe

  • Heat ghee in a pan.
  • Add raisins and saute until it turns fragrant.
  • Add cashews and stir-fry till it becomes golden brown color. Transfer it to another plate. 
  • To the pan, add semolina.
  • Stir continuously on medium flame till rava becomes golden brown.
  • Boil water in another pan.
  • Once the rava is roasted well, add cut banana pieces and sauté for 2 – 3 minutes.
  • Add hot water to the semolina and cover with a lid. Cook in low flame for about 3 minutes until the water evaporates.
  • Add sugar and mix well.
  • Keep stirring till the rava mixture becomes thicker and is well cooked.
  • Add cardamom powder, cashew nuts, and raisins. Mix well.
  • Banana sheera is ready to serve.

Trivia:

  • The scientific name for banana is musa sapientum, which means “fruit of the wise men.”
