Know More on Paleo, Keto and Atkins Diets!

Today’s health conscientious world has seen new diet trends hit the scene. These modern diets are attempting to rethink the way we treat food, and overturn age old principles of what makes a healthy diet. Many of them tend to focus on the consumption of whole foods and reject food science advancements of the 20th century, such as processed foods, diet sweeteners, and artificial flavorings. There is a new trend leading towards natural eating as a way of rejecting the onset of obesity that has plagued much of the late 20th century and early 21st century. The forerunners of these new diet theories are the Paleo, Atkins, and Keto diets. They have similar philosophies but differ on some particulars. Read on to get into some specifics.

Paleo

Paleolithic diet, more fondly known as the Caveman diet, is probably the most extreme when it comes to rejecting modern eating habits. Its mantra preaches a return to the diet of prehistoric man, when we were all hunters and gatherers. The diet focuses on eating whole foods with an emphasis on meats, fruits, and vegetables. There is an emphasis on eating healthy fats, dietary fiber, and lots of protein. According to Paleo philosophy, mankind evolved to eat this way, and our body functions best on this diet.

Atkins

Atkins diet attempts to stimulate weight loss by eating a low-carb diet. The diet is designed to let you lose weight while eating all the food you want, so long as it primarily consists of protein and healthy fats. The reduction in carbs and increase in protein creates a certain amount of satiety which will help you eat less overall. Also, your body doesn’t store protein as fat, so you will naturally lose weight.

Keto

Ketogenic diet, keto for short, attempts to help you lose weight by triggering ketosis. It is a high fat, high protein, low-carb diet. You are allowed to eat anything you want on keto so long as it is protein and avoids excess glucose. The theory goes that starving your body of glucose will trigger ketosis, which is the state where your body begins to burn and deplete its fat stores. Eggs and steak is pretty much all you need to begin this diet.
