Got Dark Lips? Here are the Foods to Eat!

An improper diet and excessive exposure to the sun can cause pigmented and dark lips. You can take care of the damaged lips by including foods such as honey and tomatoes in your diet.

Foods to eat for treating dark lips

  • Honey: You can apply honey to the lips and allow it to stay for some time. Wash with water. The minerals and anti-oxidants present in honey prevent the discoloration of the lips. You can also consume one spoon of honey for lips that are healthy and glowing.
  • Green tea: Coffee is the culprit which turns lips dark. It is advised to swap coffee with green tea. Green tea contains polyphenols and they protect the lips from the effects of sun exposure and aging. Apply green tea pack on the lips or rub it on the lips. This will cure dry and chapped lips.
  • Coconut: Apply coconut oil on dry and chapped lips. This will help to cure the chapped skin of the lips. You can also consume coconut in its raw form or add it to your curries. Coconut helps in keeping the lips hydrated.
  • Tomatoes: Tomatoes are known to contain powerful antioxidant properties that protect the lips from sun damage. Make a paste of tomatoes and apply to the lips. You can also include tomatoes in your diet.
  • Walnuts: Walnuts contain Omega-3 fatty acids which help to keep the skin of the lips smooth and youthful. Apply walnut scrub on the lips and rub gently. This will remove the dead skin from the lips and improve the elasticity of the skin.
  • Yogurt: Apply yogurt to which some strands of saffron have been added, to the lips. Allow it to stay there for some time. This will help to protect your lips from pigmentation.
