Ingredients

2 pounds boneless chicken - cut into small cubes

¼ cup soy sauce

1 tbsp rice vinegar

1 red bell pepper - thinly sliced

2 tbsp fish sauce

1 tbsp lime juice

3 red Thai Chile peppers - chopped

½ cup Thai basil

1 pinch salt

black pepper to taste

1 tbsp grated ginger

How To Make Thai Chicken with Basil

  • Combine the chicken, fish sauce, Thai Chile, ginger, bell pepper, rice vinegar and lime juice in a cooker.
  • Cook on a low flame until the chicken becomes tender. Usually, it takes about 5 ½ hours to cook the chicken.
  • Add Thai Basil to the cooked chicken and toss till it gets coated with the sauces for about 30 minutes. Sprinkle salt and pepper and serve hot.

Trivia

There are quite a few speculations about the origins of the “Thai Basil” but research claims it to have originated in India some 5000 years ago. Since then, it has been used as a vegetable and as a garnishing add-on for different recipes.
