Tejano Style Shrimp Cocktail

Tejano Style Shrimp Cocktail

Nothing says fancy like a well-constructed Tejano style shrimp cocktail. A traditional shrimp cocktail requires serving shelled and cooked prawns  in a cocktail glass complete with cocktail sauce. This dish used to be the height of fine society hors d’oeuvres in the 1960s but is now considered to be a bit out of style. The Tejano style is a Tex-Mex inspired revival that uses cilantro, serrano, and chiles; it’s really bringing the cocktail back in vogue.

Health Benefits

The primary ingredient in a shrimp cocktail, no matter what the variation is, is of course shrimp. That’s a good thing because shrimp has a lot of health benefits that just can’t be denied. A regular portion of shrimp helps to improve bone and brain health, reduce the risk of obtaining heart disease, and aid in weight management. Shrimp is also great for people attempting to maintain a low carb diet as it has zero carbs.
