Chicken Pakora

Chicken pakora is one of a number of different pakora dishes eaten throughout India and the rest of the world. Generally, a pakora is a type of small fritter snack made by deep frying one or two ingredients in gram flour. This pakora recipe combines chicken and onions for a satisfying spicy treat that is hard to beat. Their bite-sized nature, simple ingredients, and seasoning makes them a natural snack or appetizer. Eat these alongside your favorite drink.

Ingredients

cup chicken strips or cubes: 1/2

cup sliced onions layers separated: 1/2

chopped green chilies: 2

tsp ginger garlic paste: 1

tbsp lemon juice: 1

tsp red chili powder: 1/2

tsp garam masala or biryani masala powder: 1/4

tsp turmeric: 1/8

salt to taste

curry leaves – washed and chopped: 15-20

tbsp besan or chickpea flour: 4-6

tbsp corn flour: 1

Oil to deep fry

Chopped ginger pieces for aroma

How To Make Chicken Pakora

  1. Cut chicken to thin strips of 2 by ¾ inch.
    1. Wash and drain the water thoroughly.
  2. Mix chicken, onions, curry leaves, ginger, ginger garlic paste, green chili, red chili powder, masala powder, turmeric, lemon juice, and salt together.
    1. Set aside for 20 to 30 mins.

Chicken Pakora

    1. Heat oil in a kadai for deep frying.
      1. Add in the corn flour as needed to make the dough moist,
      2. Drop chicken pieces and onions into the oil one at a time.
        Note: Do not crowd them in the kadai.
      3. Keep stirring and fry till they turn golden brown.
    2. Once all the pakoras are done, refry all the pakoras in batches for 1 to 2 mins to keep them extra
    3. Serve and enjoy!
