Ingredients

Apples: 6

Brown sugar: 2 cups

pumpkin pie spice: 1/2 cup

tsp of salt: 1

cup of sugar: 4

vanilla Paste: 1 tbsp

orange zest: 1 tbsp

How To Make Apple Butter

  1. Wash and peel off the apples.
  2. Remove their cores.
  3. Chop the apples into small squared pieces and put them in a slow cooker.
  4. Keep the slow cooker off the heat just yet.
  5. Add sugar, salt, pumpkin spice, orange zest, brown sugar and vanilla paste into the slow cooker on top of the apples.
  6. Mix up all ingredients well.
  7. Put the slow cooker on the stove on low heat and cover it up with a lid.
  8. Let the apples cook on low heat overnight or for 10 hours.
  9. After 10 hours, remove the slow cooker from the heat and puree the mixture with an electric mixer.
  10. Once, the apple butter is pasted completely, place it back on the stove on high heat and let it cook for a minimum of 2 hours. Keep the cooker uncovered during this time.
  11. Once it is done, take it off the heat and let it cool down.
  12. You can put it in a can and store it in your pantry to use up to a month.
  13. If you refrigerate it, it can last up to a few weeks.
  14. If you freeze it, you can use it for a few months.
  15. Apple butter can be used in your muffins, doughnuts or even as simple as a spread on your bread!
